VOX POPS

Prior to recording our long-form oral history interviews with sporting figures in Stratford and the surrounding area, we journeyed into the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to collect a series of Vox Pops (short interview segments filmed with members of the public), gauging opinions on the park, the Olympics and sport in the local area.

ORAL HISTORIES

One of the core parts of the Talking Sport project has been the long-form, oral history interviews we conducted with those heavily involved in sport in Newham. Participants included sports coaches, enthusiasts, administrators and organisers, talking on a range of sporting topics including arranging the Olympic games, the provision of swimming pools in Newham and even the joys of the penny farthing bicycle. Below are several clips from these interviews to give you a taste for the kind of memories we uncovered. To access the interviews in full, including transcripts, please visit our Contact page and send us an email or give us a call.
